Research
To better understand the market, I analyzed leading competitors such as Bumble, Tinder and Hinge. I evaluated their design choices, strengths, and weaknesses, noting how they present user identity and facilitate interaction. While Bumble impressed me with its clean UI and functions, Hinge stood out for its more personal approach. However, I found that their reliance on a single dominant color often felt harsh. This insight inspired me to create a softer visual identity with a recognizable primary color supported by complementary tones.
I also explored how users could present themselves beyond photos, researching ways to integrate music, social media, and personal interests to spark more authentic conversations.
Design
The design process began with sketching ideas for user flows and experimenting with color palettes. The goal was to create an app that feels intuitive, fun and engaging rather than transactional. I explored how users could showcase their personality through keywords and interests.
This approach allowed profiles to become more dynamic and conversation-friendly. Visual design emphasized a playful, welcoming atmosphere supported by a flexible color system.
Results
The final prototype reimagines dating as a fun and personalized experience. By combining personality-driven profiles with a softer, multi-color visual language, Me Gusta encourages authentic connections and makes dating feel less like a chore. The app concept demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a familiar format into a more meaningful and engaging user experience.
